Over the hills and not too far away, lies the market town of Uttoxeter. It's a pretty little place, nestled between Stoke-on-Trent and Burton-on-Trent. If you've never been, it really is worth a visit, Uttoxeter has some beautiful old buildings, great pubs, restaurants and a few local attractions. The town is very popular in the summer with tourists and there is also a famous race course there. There's a new addition to the town! An independent, craft coffeehouse that goes by the name of Bear Coffee Co.
As I am a coffee hawk, the first thing I spotted was the large selection of teas and a good choice of freshly ground coffee. It actually brought a big smile to my face, knowing that I had a choice of artisan roasted coffee beans in front of me. I ordered an espresso of Doi Chaang Peaberry, a flat white made with the beautiful AAA grade Malawi Mzuzu and a bacon roll. I use the Malawi at home, so I am very familiar with it. The coffee was fantastic! Dare I say some of the best coffee I have had outside of London? Yes! You can't beat a well pulled espresso that's served by people who care about coffee.
The bacon roll I had was delicious, the bread was fresh and the bacon was really thick. The food was cooked to order and served quickly, you couldn't smell the bacon either, as nice as it is, I much prefer the smell of coffee. The staff were really nice and the co-owner even come to sit with me whilst he had is breakfast. I'm not going to give anything away, but I think Uttoxeter is in for a treat! It sounds like there are some fantastic plans for this independent coffeehouse.
