The restaurant is part of the new extension at the Intu Potteries Shopping Centre, it was easy to park and I was pleasantly surprised how smart The Hive complex looks. There's a good selection of places to eat, but I persuaded my family to go to Gourmet Burger Kitchen, most because I have wanted to try their burgers for what feels like an eternity. It's worth noting that my Gran found access very easy and didn't have any issues with the stairs or lifts.
The restaurant had a modern diner look, it was very clean, the kitchen staff were cleaning the food areas as we ordered. The seating was comfortable and my Gran didn't even complain! For those that aren't familiar with the Gourmet Burger Kitchen ordering process, you order at the till and you are served at your table.
We made a large order, the drinks arrived first, followed shortly afterwards by the food. The burgers were very hot and so were the sides. Everything was fresh and the orders were all correct, it's not the cheapest burger joint, but I suppose you're paying for the quality.
As a group, we were very pleased with the restaurant and agreed that we would return. However, there was one down side. The restaurant just felt a little flat, like there needed to be more theater and atmosphere. It won't stop me from returning though, on a cold day, a delicious burger is too good to resist. I'll even go on my own if I have to, there's too many delicious burgers to taste!
