I suppose when I was a little younger and a little more ignorant, I used to just laugh at the bargain hunters, loyalty point collectors and people using the odd coupon towards their shopping. Oh how times can change, and I'm not even ashamed to admit it! I've become one of those savvy shopping nerds, trying to squeeze every penny from my pound. As I am getting older (I'm only a year from 30), I'm probably getting more frugal anyway.
By taking advantage of the Nectar app and My Coupons by Sainsbury's, I can earn plenty of points just by doing my regular shopping in-store. I earn a minimum of 500 points (£2.50) on every shop of £15.00. Considering I shop at Sainsbury's at least four times a month, that can build up very quickly. Especially if you use your Nectar card for your fuel, Ebay and other offers that you can find on the app. You can spend your points on holidays, pizzas and shopping. You can also earn loads of points doing surveys on the Nectar website, but I don't bother with that.
There are catches, your cashback is held in their system and you can't withdraw any until it has been approved and validated. It can take a while, but if you were going to buy the goods anyway, what are you missing? They probably won't like me saying this, but you can double up by earning Nectar points on Ebay, via Topcashback. Even getting cashback on Groupon etc.
Some of the things I have won include the delicious burger pictured above, although I didn't really enjoy it because I was in and out of CVS episodes all weekend. I've won cooking equipment, Glorious Foods awarded me 10 soup vouchers for sharing photos from Thailand with them. They go a long way when you're skint. I won seeds for my garden, protein powder and many other things. Now obviously you're not going to win everything, but if you're just browsing social media anyway, you may get an unexpected bonus for doing so.
